Filip Gemzell
Chef at Äng* (Tvaaker, Sweden)

On the western side of Sweden, a few hundred kilometres south of Gothenburg, stood Ästad Gård farm. In 2010, the grandchildren (Linda, Mattias and Daniel) of the founders took over the project and with a new vision and interest in gastronomic experiences, Ästad Gård became Ästad Vingård.
Mattias met Filip Gemzell while searching for chefs on the internet, and when Filip visited the farm, he fell in love with it and became part of the project as the manager of the Äng restaurant.
Gemzell, who worked in London for several years before returning to Sweden, brings a cosmopolitan vision that allows Äng's cuisine to explore cultures and culinary techniques from around the world without ever leaving home. Everything diners taste is locally grown and personally picked by Filip and his team, then prepared to maximise flavour. The organic Scandinavian Ästad wines in their cellar are produced just 100 metres from the restaurant.
In 2021, the restaurant will receive its first Michelin star, as well as a green star for ÄNG's meticulous work on sustainability. A year later, in 2022, chef Filip Gemzell received the Swedish Chef of the Year award for gastronomic sustainability.
